• 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Pet 1:3–5

    Easter Service Pastor Kobe Orr

Because Jesus lives, we can have hope! Such a powerful piece of God’s Word! Hope- a confident expectation of future good. Jesus is hope and an anchor for our souls! Because Jesus lives!! Our hope begins with the resurrection.

We are sinners! Sin- any violation of God’s law. Rom 3:23 All have sinned. We are corrupt at every level. It’s in the world surrounding us at all times. Be honest enough to see it in yourself. Even our own bodies break down and betray us. But God is kind and He has compassion. Like a good father He has always loved us. Our sin breaks His heart for us. Jesus came! On a rescue mission for us. He gives us His perfection as credit to God. Rom 6:23 Sin leads to eternal death. Without Jesus we are hopeless! Jesus died. In our place so we could live and have a relationship with God. Finite sin has a infinite consequence! God is a God of righteousness and justice. We wouldn’t want Him any other way. Every sin requires payment. Heb 9:22 Jesus absorbed the penalty of sin for us. Thank God!! Jesus rose again! Conquered death. He removed deaths authority over us. 1 Cor 15:17 Without Christ being raised from the dead all of our hope is meaningless. This isn’t just a rumor. History with real actual witnesses proves that Jesus lived and died and then rose from the dead.

All of His disciples and followers followed Christ right up to their own horrible deaths. No one dies for a lie! And most of them suffered horrific torture and deaths because they chose not to deny Him. Scripture claims and history supports Christ is real. Because Christ lives, we can have hope! 1 Pet 1:3-4 Just bask in that scripture. It should alter everything you think say, and do! If God kept His promises to Jesus then, then He will surely keep His promises to us now. All our hope comes from Him. His Word, His truths, His character! Hope that one day all sin will finally be gone forever. Jesus inheritance now belongs to us. Jesus gives us eternal hope and also gives us the hope we need to get through today. It might seem hard but trust Him and trust it will all be worth it. Rom 8:18

Nothing compares to the glory of heaven! This life is not all there is. It is just a sliver on the front end of eternity. Have hope because if you have Christ your eternity is already secured! Even in suffering death no longer has the final word. Our identity is no longer in sin but in Christ. Because Jesus lives, we can have hope! What will you do with this living hope? Respond now! Have gratitude and thankfulness! Allow this hope to affect you and change everything you find important. Allow the resurrection to change you from the inside out. Model your life around Jesus’s living hope. Don’t put your hope in a dying world but anchor yourself to a living savior!

    APPLICATION:

Trust Him! Anchor myself to Christ. Remember what my sin costs! Read my Bible. Don’t stop pushing into God. Trust Him! Let the hope of what He has done change everything I think, say and do! Don’t just talk about action but DO IT! Be humble and thankful at all times! Pray, Pray, Pray! Thank You Jesus!

12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, Eph 2:12–14.

Do you remember? Without Jesus we cannot be near God. Without Him we have no access. God and sin cannot co-exist! Do you remember who you once were? Rom 3:23 Rom 6:23 All have sinned and fall dreadfully short. We are hopeless! James 2:10 We worshiped ourselves and made ourselves into our own god. We were enemies with God. Trying to be our own god set us against Him. Rom 5 We were sitting on eternal death row with no hope! Peace requires blood. And it should be paid with our own blood. BUT NOW…!

But now in Christ we have been brought near by His blood. He did for us what we could not do for ourselves! Jesus came for me! Heb 9:22 This is what is required for peace! 2 Cor 5:21 Thank God that He is nothing like us!! Do you remember? Do you remember the price God paid when He sent the one He loved most and sacrificed Him so we could have a relationship. Do you remember the cost of your sin? Do you remember what Christ did and why He did it? Remember what it cost God for our peace! We cannot treat our sin lightly because God doesn’t treat sin lightly. Just like Jesus clearing the temple we must clear our hearts of everything we put over God! We have got to deal with our sin and not let it have any room in our hearts!

Vs. 14 says For He himself is our peace. What a glorious statement! Without Him we are hopeless! Thank God that He had a plan and that His character never changes! Trust in Him and believe what His Word says and live it out with faith knowing that HE IS OUR PEACE. We don’t need anything else!

    APPLICATION:

Stay inside of scripture. Let it change the way I think and act. Don’t ever forget what it cost God for me to have peace. Let the peace of God rule my life. Be humble and look for ways to help others. Talk about Christ at work. Tell others what He has done in my life! Be thankful for everything! Thank you Lord for sending Your Son for me! I am completely undeserving of that love! Help me to love others like you loved me! Remember the cost of my sin!

21 Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5  “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’ ” 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.” Matt 21:1–11

Who is Jesus and why did He come? He came to save us from ourselves and to draw us back to Himself! He came to be our sacrificial King! To stand in our place of judgement! To do what we could not do! To pay our ransom that sin has created. He was our sacrificial lamb. That is why HE rode in on Passover. His timing was very intentional! Isa 53:7 He fulfilled many prophecies. He rode in to be crucified for all His people. Matt 20:28 Our whole life is defined by us being our own God. Sin rules and controls us. There must be an answer and a punishment for that! We cannot save ourselves anymore then the Israelites could save themselves from slavery in Egypt. When we place our trust in Him we are covered by His blood. Because of His kindness and His sacrifice we are saved. There is nothing we can do to earn it. We become perfectly righteous because of Him. He makes us new. Perfect and complete. His mercy and grace are fresh and new each morning! Thank God for those truths!!!!

Jesus came to be our sacrificial KING. He is in control of everything. He is choosing and orchestrating all of it. Nothing was done to Him outside of His control or His will. He willfully walked to the cross for me. His resurrection and the cross are the ultimate reminders of His love. Jesus knows what we need way more than we do! Trust Him! Where does my heart rest in tough situations? God’s character always remains the same. I have to see God through my circumstances. Our hope and peace come from Him. He is God and i am not! Do I know Jesus? Do I make Him into something that He is not? When He fails to be what we envision that when we run back to our sin. We grow and know God’s character by reading His Word. Read, study and meditate on His Word. Do I trust Jesus? Do I follow Him regardless of how I feel? Do I think that He knows I need even better than I do? Ps 23:1 Do I come to Him first? Ps 5:3 Do I allow Him to challenge what is most sacred to me? Ps 139:23 Do I assume His character changes when circumstances do? Ps 102:27 Do I trust God’s perfect character? Confess, repent and change the things that are sinful! God I put all my trust in You and I need Your forgiveness! Jesus You are my KING! Forgive me!

    APPLICATION:

Stay in the Word. Truly get to know God’s character! Put all my trust in Him. Stay humble. Be thankful for ALL things. Let Christ fight my battles and let Him defend me at all times! Thank You Lord!! Forgive me for thinking that i am a better god and help me to trust you as I face my sin and remove it from my life!

  • 10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” 12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us_ Gal 3:10–13

God gave us His law to show us how to be obedient to Him. For an example of how we should live. But He never says that if we follow it completely that it will result in us being saved and accepted by Him. So in that the law becomes a curse because it is impossible for us to follow it perfectly. And even more if we strive to follow it perfectly just so we can say we are deserving of His acceptance it creates feelings in our hearts that don’t include surrender or trusting in Him or faith in Christ. So therefore that is a curse as well because it makes it all about us. So that is what makes this verse and all of this book to the Galatians such great news! Christ came and became the curse for us and said that all we have to do is accept that free gift with faith. Over and over the Galatians are adding things to the Gospel so that they can boast in their flesh. But over and over the Bible tells us about how wicked our flesh truly is so anything you do will always result in failure. All we have to do is believe! And it does not include believing in ourselves but surrendering to the one who can actually keep a perfect law and can actually save us from our wicked flesh.

Christ became the curse for us and He saved us from ourselves! Once you learn the truth and accept and feel the love that God gives to us, that’s when the real change begins. Once I realized just how undeserving I am and I felt the sacrifice God made for me it pushed me straight into His Word. That’s where you get to know Him and you start to see His plan. I began to feel His love and from that an urgency grows to want to be better. But it doesn’t come from me wanting to boast about myself but to do it for the one who saved me! He saved me when I was His enemy. Living a life completely for myself. I deserve eternity in Hell. Anything other than that is grace and mercy. Two things that are simply unexplained. A love like that cannot be measured! And it’s because of that love that I choose to stay glued to the Bible as it exposes the things in my life that I need to change. May the Lord complete His work in me! Because of what He has done I am saved and secured into His family. What a joy and a blessing that truly is. I want to spread that love to everyone I know by telling them about the Gospel so they can meet Jesus the same way I did. Lord may you grant me more and more faith everyday, Give me the courage and the boldness to tell others about you. Don’t make it about me ever again!

    APPLICATION:

Read the Bible, Apply it to my life. Use it to guide my thinking and my actions. If I mess up confess it as soon as possible. Don’t let any darkness grow In my heart. Stay humble at all times. It is all about bringing Him honor and glory and no longer about me! Talk about Jesus at work. Have courage and don’t let fear control any part of my life. Pray Pray Pray! Thank You for everything Lord! I am so undeserving of your love! Thank you for not leaving it up to me and saving me when I didn’t deserve it! May I always remember that You are God and i am not!

  • Sermon notes. Pastor Kobe Orr

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Rom 1:16

We are ambassadors! 2 Cor 5:20 Disciples of Jesus are not ashamed of the gospel because we understand and have experienced the power of God that can save anyone. The Gospel is the power of God! Disciples of Jesus recognize the need for the Gospel. GOSPEL- Jesus came and died and then rose again. Destroying sin and death. ANYONE who believes will be saved. For all have sinned and fall short! Romans 3:23 Wages of sin is death! Romans 6 Unless God in His mercy and kindness intervenes we will spend eternity in hell. We are desperate and hopeless without Christ! 1 Cor 6:9-11 Without Christ we will burn! But we were saved and washed by Christ. His mercy and kindness saves us when we don’t deserve it. We cannot be ashamed! Out of our love and thankfulness we should tell others about what God has done in our lives and God will use our testimony to help bring people to Him. Sin=Cancer= Death We come to Jesus because we are desperate and we refuse to forget our need for the Gospel!

Disciples of Jesus believe in the power of the Gospel- for EVERYONE! I have seen the Gospel work in my life and I know that He can definitely save others! So have hope! The Gospel is hope. Hope for all the broken and the lost people for all of eternity. Romans 8:18 The Gospel is strong enough to save anyone! Take your eyes off the temporal and look to the eternal! True disciples of Jesus believes in the power of the Gospel!

Disciples of Jesus share the Gospel. How could you withhold that hope from anyone? Don’t stay silent! How much do you have to hate someone to withhold the Gospel from them? Trust God for the harvest! Stay faithful and plant His seeds! The Gospel calls us to step out of our comfort zone. It is not our job to save but to be obedient and speak. Join God in His miraculous work! You only need to share your testimony. Echo the words of David in Psalms 34:8 Do not under estimate God and His plans. We are His ambassadors. 2 Cor 5:20 Share the hope that we get from what God has already done!

    APPLY TRUTH/APPLICATION:

Pray personally for specific people. Corporately pray for your leadership! Sign up for the prayer calendar. Pray for Gospel eyes. EPH 3:20 God can do way more than we can possibly imagine! God answers the prayers of His people through His people! Pray for new believers and speak boldly. Talk about Jesus at work. Don’t be scared. Stay humble. Thank God for the privilege of being His ambassador today! Forgive me for all the times I let my pride keep me silent. I pray for courage and boldness. I refuse to be ashamed! Its all because of Your blood. Thank you Jesus!

  • 3 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— Gal 3:1–5

The amplified version says ” O you poor and silly and thoughtless and unreflecting and senseless Galatians!” At the first moment I thought yes, how foolish are they? They were taught straight from Paul himself. Salvation was from Christ alone and by faith alone. How could they so easily forget His teaching? But then I’m instantly reminded of my life and the many times God has stepped into my life and pulled me out of the depths of Hell only for me to go running right back into the flames. Paul wants to remind us of how we were saved. Remind us who did all the work. And remind us what to do once we have exposed teaching that doesn’t line up with God’s Word! But most importantly Paul was disappointed by their disobedience to the real Gospel. The only true Gospel!

When I think more about how I could possibly do these same things as the Galatians, I see the steps that sin takes to neutralize the truth. Something happens to me or to someone close to me and in my sinful flesh I go to my memory and I pick from the past the things that brought me comfort. I start to use them over and over until I think and act like I no longer need the Lord. Sometimes I travel down that path longer than others but lately God has been changing me so that I don’t have to stay on that road as long. There were times in my life that I would travel so far and forget so much that the Lord would have to break my legs to get my attention. Thank the Lord that today I have His Spirit to guide me!

My accountability partner, who is definitely as close to the modern day Paul as we will ever get, showed me a drawing and it made perfect sense. When things happen we always resort to our memory. And from there we have 2 options. Take the redeeming path or go down the corrupt path. The corrupt path is controlled by our flesh and sin and it always ends up with the same disappointing results. Why do I keep choosing that path? Because the other side is the redeeming path. The one controlled by Christ. This one fills you with the Holy Spirit and the power of God. You start to think and act differently. You realize how important God’s Word is and you make it a priority to spend time dwelling on it and letting it take over your life. Without it I would be lost!

Paul is reminding us of the true Gospel. Don’t get doped by false teaching. John MacArthur says,” The notion that sinful, weak, fallen human flesh could improve on the saving work of the Holy Spirit was ludicrous to Paul”. And it needs to be ludicrous to us as well because it is not the truth. Don’t bend the truth to fit how you feel! Change your thinking and be obedient to Christ. He saved us when we were absolutely undeserving! He stepped off His throne so that we could have a relationship with Him. Grab His Word and fill yourself with truth. And hold on to it like your life depends on it. Because it does!

    APPLICATION:

Stay completely surrounded by God’s Word. Let it permeate everything I do! Stay humble. Do not defend myself. Let the Lord speak and act for me. Stay true to Him and trust that He is working and that He will not stop until His work is complete in me. Stay dependent on Him! Be obedient in all things and at all times! Pray Pray Pray! God I need you! Thank You for everything! Holy Spirit fill me up!

  • Sermon notes Pastor Kobe Orr

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Col 3:12–14

Pray through 1 Cor 13:4-7 Jesus washed the feet of all the disciples! Extreme service. Sacrificial service! The greatest leaders will always serve first! True disciples of Jesus will grow in humility! Christ came to serve/ not be served! It is impossible to grow in godliness without humility. Pride is the root of all sin. A daily battle we will fight everyday. Pride: Elevation of self above God and others. Your being your own God. Humility: Gladly recognizing that God is God and we are not and treating others as more important than ourselves.

Recognize that God is God and I am not! We are not God, we were created! Because of our sin we are corrupted! In our brokenness that’s where the Gospel will find us! We are objects of God’s mercy. We are all broken and deserve Hell. But God gives us undeserved grace only because of His kindness! Humility is the glad recognition that Christ gives us our identity! Pride says that I am God. At the root of every sin we are saying that we are better than God. We choose to live that way. We are to put our sin to death.

Humility toward God starts with contentment and gratitude. Do not long for the things that I don’t have. Humility says I am thankful for all the things that God has already done. Trust in God! Remind yourself of God’s character. I do not actually deserve anything better! Don’t get bitter either! Peace comes from recognizing that God is in control. I am not! Prayer at the core is an act of dependence. Prideful people neglect prayer and are too arrogant to ask for help. Humility is gladly recognizing that God is God and that He is in control!

Humility is treating others as more important than ourselves. Causes us to understand our equality with all people. There is zero discrimination with Christ! The only thing that saves us is God’s kindness. Titus 3:5 Your sin of arrogance is the same as the sin of murder. All sin requires a payment. Humility causes us to understand the expectation of obedience. If Christ will wash the feet of His followers then we are without excuse! Phil 2:3-6 No selfish ambition. Jesus modeled perfect humility through His obedience. He stepped down from His throne for me… He deserves to be worshiped! Tortured and abused and ridiculed all for me… If Jesus could do that for me then there is nothing that I shouldn’t do for others!

What does humility toward others look like? Peace and patients. Meet others needs with kindness. Joyfully accept criticism and authority. Always want to be better. It is about meeting God’s expectations and not my own. Graciousness and forgiveness! Constantly reminded of my own sin. Quickness to repent. A humble person will own their sin and forgive others without expectations. Quickness to serve. No hesitation. Humble people make a habit of service while prideful people are always full of excuses. Close friendships. Pride pushes godly people away while humility draws godly people in.

God will complete His work! Phil 1:6 Why put on Humility? James 4:6 If you stay proud you will be rejected by God. But God loves you too much to leave you that way. He will bring you to your knees! All good things come from walking in humility with God! Everything is built on humility!

How do we grow in humility? Application:

Look to His Word! Apply it to your life and allow it to change you. Listen to His voice. Be humble enough to hear Him and act. Listen to His people. God speaks through His people. I pray God will expose my prideful actions and that He would use His Word to change me from the inside out! Say sorry first! Ask others to expose my prideful actions! Listen and apply what they say to my life and change! Pray always! Be Thankful!

    IN HIS NAME!

  • 20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal 2:20

Every single day I have opportunities to crucify myself and let Christ live in me and everyday I fail. Thank God for God’s promises that give me the hope I need to keep moving forward! This verse is one that I have been saying to myself often lately. I need to remember to die to myself. To not worry about what anyone thinks about me. This verse humbles me to tears. When struggles come and things get hard you can look to Christ and think He died on a cross for me. Is what I’m going through really that bad? It gives me hope for the future. Gives me strength to know I can face anything and the fact that nothing can take me out of His hands gives me faith! And from that faith He gives me peace!

I have been crucified! What I feel really doesn’t matter. I need to surrender it all! This life I now live in the flesh I live in a way that brings Him honor and glory. He sees all of me and He loves me anyways. There is no other love like it! How could you not want to serve a God like that? Lord please give me the courage to follow Your lead! You gave Your life for me and now I want to return mine back to you in service! Change me and use me! You deserve it all!

    APPLICATION:

Use this verse as a weapon against my flesh! Soak myself with scripture. Stay humble! Without Christ I’m a worthless carcass! Not capable of anything good. Die to myself minute by minute, day by day, until Christ takes me home. Stay positive and happy. Think about what Christ has done for me and let that bring me all the joy and peace and comfort that I need to get through the day. I am truly blessed! Thank You Jesus!

    Sermon notes Pastor Kobe Orr

First I want to say how much I love my church! The worship today just brought out so many emotions! The first words I saw on the screen were “Why would I pray really small prayers to a really big God?” and oh did I need to see that. After going through my own valley and through the struggles of change I needed to be reminded of the God I serve and pray to! It was so nice to be surrounded with people that love the Lord and will do anything and everything to bring Him glory! And thanks to the pastors that unapologetically preach the truth! I never leave that place not chewing on a big piece of Gospel meat and seeing practical ways I can become more like Jesus! Thank You!!!

Disciples of Jesus must put on kindness. If we have truly been saved and transformed by Christ then why would we return to our old life? Take off the old self and put on Christ! This is who you must be! Doesn’t matter where you came from, your old life is dead and now it is Christ living in you. Disciple-One who follows and is transformed by Jesus! Kindness- Active kindness towards the undeserved. Kindness is always rooted in compassion. Its active, never passive, so it will always cost you something. Luke 10:30

Who are we being called to be kind to?? We are called to be kind to the needy! Are we aware enough to even see the needy? We are surrounded by people who are suffering. Jesus was never too busy to talk to homeless beggars! So neither should I!! Am I going to step up and do something? We are called to be kind to our enemies! You need to be kind to the people that have hurt you and slandered you and cheated you and even when you feel they don’t deserve it! What does this kindness look like? True kindness will cost you! Kindness could cost you everything but that’s OK because everything you have is a gift from God! He has entrusted us with this stuff so that we can help Him build His Kingdom! Don’t get selfish and greedy! 1 Tim 6:17-18 Our resources should be spent expanding His Kingdom. And when you give don’t expect anything in return. Luke 6:34-35

Your kindness must be active! Kindness does not wait for the needy to initiate anything. The Gospel compels us to help those who need it most! Active engagement! God will use our kindness to restore people back to him. Go from enemies to brothers through one act of kindness! What is it that this person needs most? Can I meet that need? What is best for this person before the Lord? How can God empower me to meet their needs? IS THIS NOT EXACTLY WHAT GOD DID FOR ME?? We were dead and enemies of God but because of God’s kindness He chose to save me! Isaiah 53:5 Romans 2:4 God’s kindness is meant to lead us to salvation! There is no one beyond our kindness! Never forget how kind God has been to me! James 1:17 Use kindness to spread the Gospel! God’s kindness was not intended to make us comfortable so get to work!

    APPLICATION:

Engage in Kindness by serving, praying for other people, at the food bank, giving money, and helping the needy! It’s easy to be moved to empathy… Do the hard work and get active! Stay locked inside God’s word. Listen to Him when He speaks. Its no coincidence that this scripture is directly lining up with my personal study! Gal 2:20 God is telling me that my old self, my entire old life and all its identities are dead! Stop trying to go back to the old ways for comfort. The old is dead and gone and now it is Christ who lives in me! It is no longer I who live but Christ is living in me! Act accordingly!!! Praise the Lord for those truths! I am going to smother myself with His Word until it becomes the most important thing in my life! God’s Word is the oxygen that truly keeps me breathing and alive! Lord please give me the courage to be kind! Never let me forget the kindness you showed me! Thank You Lord!!!

    Putting on Kindness
  • 16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. Gal 2: 16

The closer you get to Christ the more you will see the things in your life that you need to change. After a while you get so focused on removing those things that it’s easy to forget some of the truths of God’s Word. You forget that you have already been justified by what Christ has done. You forget that God knows every single thing that you have done or will ever do! You start to do these things on your own power and you don’t understand why it is so hard or why you’re not moving as fast as you think you should. In my life when that happens it is because I have taken the controls back and I have started to do what I think is needed or is best. I forget that my choices and my great ideas are what got me into the mess in the first place. If the enemy can get you to forget the promises of God then he has enabled you useless and you will spin around trying to fix yourself instead of surrendering it all to Him and letting God do the work that only He is able to do. Once you start to compromise and rely on your own strength that is when the enemy starts licking his chops and starts executing our destruction. Most of the time our sinful flesh will take us out and the enemy just sits back and enjoys the show… So don’t fall into the trap! Stay connected to the source!

Paul is telling us that NO one will be justified by works! There is no way to earn your place with God. There is nothing you can do to make God accept you or love you more than He already does. Salvation is a gift that comes from God. You have to truly believe and with faith accept all the promises of God. God’s Word says that we only have to believe in Him and will be justified and sanctified and brought into His family. He says He will give us the power to change and He will be there to help every step of the way. He will help us in times of temptation and in time of pain and suffering. He will give us the strength to keep fighting and the hope to keep going when everything else can seem hopeless. It can be easy to believe and trust in God when things are good but what happens when things are not so good? When something bad happens are you going to run to the substance or thing that you have always went to for comfort? When sin is exposed in your life will you continue to make excuses and rationalize why it’s not so bad or will you eradicate the sin from your life like God’s Word tells you to do? God doesn’t change and His grace and love will always be covering me but I still have to make a choice. Who am I going to serve? Christ or myself? Lord Help me to keep my eyes always on You!

    APPLICATION:

Stay hopeful!! As I walk with God and sin is exposed in my life and those around me, help me to keep my eyes on Christ. This can be very hard and things can start to seem hopeless and not even possible but remember, that is a lie from hell. There is nothing we cannot do with Christ and that removing sin is a part of our sanctification. God does not want to share us with all the little idols we put in our hearts. He deserves it all! So give it your all when it comes to doing what His Word says regardless of what you’re thinking in your head. Do not let my feelings control my actions! Stay connected to God by spending time in His Word. You cannot have a relationship with Christ without being in His Word! You cannot have a proper view of the world and your sin without being in His Word! You will not feel the power and the love and the comfort of His forgiveness and guidance without being in His Word! Lord help me to remember your promises! To truly believe in You and to turn to you when I need to be comforted. Help me to remember that Your ways are so much better than mine! Be with my family and I as we push closer to You! I need Your power and Your love and Your forgiveness! Help me to be hopeful when everything seems dark and hopeless! May I keep my eyes on You and may You shine Your light into all the dark places in my life! May I stay humble and keep myself at the foot of Your cross! You did all the work so I could be with You! I am truly unworthy!

    IN HIS NAME!
